Clinton Township Zoning Inspector Position

The Zoning Inspector is responsible for the ongoing work and efficiency of the zoning office and reports directly to the Clinton Township Trustees. This position helps ensure compliance with the Clinton Township Zoning Code and provides prompt, efficient service to the Township.


Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Enforcing the Clinton Township Zoning Resolution

  • Attending Zoning Board and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings

  • Attending the first regular Board of Trustees meeting each month to provide zoning reports

  • Serving as an informational resource on zoning matters

  • Maintaining records related to permits, certificates, complaints, inspections, and enforcement documentation

  • Investigating zoning matters and pursuing appropriate action allowed by law

  • Filing and assisting with the retention of site and building plans

  • Treating requests and complaints in a timely and professional manner


The Zoning Inspector does not have authority to grant exceptions or approve variances. Variances are handled by the Board of Zoning Appeals. The Zoning Inspector may only authorize zoning certificates or permits that comply with the Clinton Township Zoning Resolution.


Clinton Township Zoning Inspector Position Requirements

Applicants must be bondable and maintain a valid driver’s license. Pay is based on experience. This is a part-time position.
